Maxwell Zhu
Special Advisor and President Emeritus
Mr. Maxwell Zhu is an advisor and president emeritus of Financial Education For All Inc., a non-profit organization that he founded in 2021 to promote financial literacy education among low-income populations. Through his visionary leadership from 2021 to 2024, Mr. Zhu drove legislative initiatives and offered free access to financial literacy education through the Financial Education University online platform.
His impactful leadership has been instrumental in addressing educational inequity. Working closely with Connecticut legislators, he led a team that successfully championed the passage of Connecticut Bill S.B. 1165, mandating that high school students complete a financial literacy course for graduation. The online financial literacy courses he developed have been viewed over 13,000 times. Under his guidance, these efforts raised more than $10K and expanded to multiple states.
Before founding Financial Education For All, Mr. Zhu served as the U.S. Ambassador & Youth Council Member for the YesWeDo Foundation, which promotes liberal arts education in rural China. He also founded and led several clubs and organizations at Choate Rosemary Hall.
Currently a college student at the University of Chicago, Mr. Zhu is pursuing an academic career in economics and finance.
Leo Zhang
Vice President, Legislative Initiatives
Leo Zhang is a high school senior. Growing up with immigrant parents, he believes education is one of the greatest ways to improve people’s lives. He is proud to be part of Financial Education For All. He helped develop the online course including existing financial information, services and products from public and private sectors for low-income populations and led a successful campaign for passing CT Bill S.B. 1165.
In his spare time, he volunteers as a tennis coach and tutor for various non-profit organizations. At school, he is actively involved in the student community. He is the News Editor for his school newspaper. He is enthusiastic about politics and a member of both Republican and Democratic clubs at school.
Cathy Zhang
Vice President, Education and Communication
Cathy Zhang is a high school sophomore. She is passionate about art, writing and science. She has received awards from various arts contests including the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. In addition, Cathy has received the Baxter Award for Excellence in Science. She is a staff artist for the school newspaper, The Log and an assistant editor for her school literary magazine, The Loom.
She believes it is important to give back to the community around us. After spending much of her free time volunteering, she has been elected to her school's Service Organization. As the Vice President of Education and Communication at Financial Education For All, she perfectly combines her skills and interests. She is in charge of website development and maintenace and inquiry management.
In Cathy’s spare time, she enjoys making jewelry and writing poetry. She also has a dog, two cats, and ten fish.
Liam Ryan
Director, Business Development
Liam Ryan is a senior at Millburn High School. Liam feels very strongly that education should be available to all no matter what your background may be. Education opens up a whole horizon of opportunities for people and there should be no boundaries placed in front of someone to obtain this.
Liam has plans of studying business and political science in college. In his career, Liam has goals of changing the custody system for kids that have been affected by the unfair court systems. Liam enjoys physical activity and spending time with his family. He also is a part of the Millburn High School boys Golf team. Liam often involves himself in community service whether it be at food banks or at his church. He has participated in school clubs such as the Make-a-Wish Club and the Guide Dog Foundation Club.
